... WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 10 PM EST THURSDAY...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAY HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 10 PM EST THURSDAY.
* HAZARD TYPES... SNOW.
* ACCUMULATIONS... SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 3 TO 6 INCHES.
* TIMING... SNOW DEVELOPING THURSDAY MORNING THEN ENDING THURSDAY EVENING.
* IMPACTS... ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL MAKE ROADS SLIPPERY. THE ADDED WEIGHT OF SNOW ON ALREADY ICE LADEN TREES AND POWER LINES COULD ADD TO THE NUMBER OF POWER OUTAGES. ICY AND SNOW COVERED ROADS WILL MAKE REPAIR EFFORTS MORE DIFFICULT FOR POWER COMPANIES.
* WINDS... SOUTH 5 TO 10 MPH.
* TEMPERATURES... IN THE MID 20S TO MID 30S.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
NORMALLY A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES... AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING. FOR THIS EVENT THE SNOW IS FALLING IN THE AREA HIT HARDEST BY THE ICE STORM. THIS WILL MAKE POWER RESTORATION EFFORTS MORE DIFFICULT DUE TO INCREASED WEIGHT ON TREES AND POWER LINES AND POOR TRAVELING CONDITIONS FOR ROAD CREWS.
